Course objectives
In accordance with the degree goals, as indicated in its SUA-CdS file, this course aims to introduce students to a reflexion on the significance for literature of the arrival of digital resources. On the basis of a preliminary analysis of the ontological and rhetorical differences between the printed literary text and the digital literary text, the course will therefore aim to provide students with skills that will help them both to use digital technologies to study literary texts and to understand the specificities of digital literature.
Regarding Francophone literature, the course will propose a series of notions that can be relevant to the rhetorical analysis of electronic literature. It will then focus on some examples of contemporary creation in which traditional literary genres are reconfigured by the digital medium.
In accordo con gli obiettivi del corso di laurea, come indicato nella scheda SUA-CdS, questo corso si propone di introdurre gli studenti a una riflessione sugli effetti dell'incremento delle risorse digitali sulla la letteratura. Sulla base di un'analisi preliminare delle differenze ontologiche e retoriche tra il testo letterario stampato e quello digitale, il corso si propone di fornire agli studenti competenze che li aiutino sia a utilizzare le tecnologie digitali per lo studio dei testi letterari sia a comprendere le specificità della letteratura digitale.
Per quanto riguarda la letteratura francofona, il corso presenterà una serie di nozioni rilevanti per l'analisi retorica del testo digitale. Si concentrerà poi su alcuni esempi di creazione contemporanea in cui i generi letterari tradizionali vengono riconfigurati dal mezzo digitale.

Knowledge and understanding
By the end of the course the student shall know 1.- the main characteristics that the digital transmission imposes upon literary texts; 2.- the literary and poetic potentials of the digital medium and their exploration in some examples of contemporary Francophone literature.
Applying knowledge and understanding
By the end of the course the student shall be able to analyse digital literary works in their digital specificity; they shall be able to analyse the main rhetorical and poetical features of a digital literary work; they shall know how to use digital resources for the analysis of Spanish language literary works.
Making judgments
By the end of the course the student shall be able to find online and choose the adequate digital tools for different tasks related to the study of French and Spanish literatures
Communication skills
By the end of the course the student shall be able: 1- to know the most important digital publishing sites, such as journals, and their standards for publishing proposals; 2- he or she should be able to write or orally present a rhetorical analysis of a digital literary work and to argue his/her interpretation of the texts.
Learning skills
By the end of the course the student shall be able to know how to find new digital resources and to keep up to date with the varying online reality as far as French and Spanish literatures are concerned.
Conoscenza e comprensione
Al termine del corso lo studente dovrà conoscere 1.- le principali caratteristiche che la trasmissione digitale conferisce ai testi letterari; 2.- le potenzialità letterarie e poetiche del mezzo digitale e le modalità della loro esplorazione in alcuni esempi di letteratura francofona contemporanea.
Applicazione delle conoscenze e della comprensione
Al termine del corso lo studente sarà in grado di analizzare le opere letterarie digitali nella loro specificità digitale; sarà in grado di analizzare le principali caratteristiche retoriche e poetiche di un'opera letteraria digitale; saprà utilizzare le risorse digitali per l'analisi di opere letterarie in lingua spagnola.
Formulare giudizi
Alla fine del corso, lo studente sarà in grado di trovare online e scegliere gli strumenti digitali adeguati per diversi compiti legati allo studio delle letterature francese e spagnola.
Abilità comunicative
Alla fine del corso lo studente sarà in grado di: 1- conoscere i più importanti siti di pubblicazione digitale, come le riviste, e i loro standard per le proposte editoriali; 2- essere in grado di scrivere o presentare oralmente un'analisi retorica di un'opera letteraria digitale e argomentare la propria interpretazione.
Capacità di apprendimento
Alla fine del corso lo studente dovrà essere in grado di trovare nuove risorse digitali e di tenersi aggiornato sulla realtà online per quanto riguarda le letterature francese e spagnola.

Course delivery
The course will consist of 36 hours of lessons which will include the explanation of theoretical concepts and their application trough the analysis of examples. As far as the health emergency caused by the covid-19 epidemic will allow it, the lessons, scheduled for the second half of the first semester (november 10 to december 22, 2022), will take place in presence. If necessary, the lessons will be transmitted via Webex videoconference in streaming at the scheduled time. Texts and and other materials used for the lessons will be also made available through Moodle and through the section “Materiale didattico” of the course site (CampusNet). All students are warmly invited to register to the course (in this same page) to facilitate a more efficient communication.
Il corso consisterà in 36 ore di lezione che comprenderanno la spiegazione dei concetti teorici e la loro applicazione attraverso l'analisi di esempi. Nella misura in cui l'emergenza sanitaria causata dall'epidemia di Covid-19 lo consentirà, le lezioni, previste per la seconda metà del primo semestre (dal 10 novembre al 22 dicembre 2022), si svolgeranno in presenza. Se necessario, le lezioni saranno trasmesse in videoconferenza Webex in streaming all'orario previsto. I testi e gli altri materiali utilizzati per le lezioni saranno resi disponibili anche attraverso Moodle e la sezione "Materiale didattico" del sito del corso (CampusNet). Tutti gli studenti sono caldamente invitati a registrarsi al corso (in questa stessa pagina) per agevolare una comunicazione più efficiente.

Learning assessment methods
For the French part, the knowledge test will involve the writing of a paper (4000 characters/15 minutes) or an oral presentation on one of the aspects of digital literature studied in the course. In the case of a written presentation, the text must be submitted to the professor no later than 14 days before the date of the oral examination. The oral examination will be based on the themes and works covered in the course.
Per la parte francese, la prova di conoscenza prevede la stesura di un elaborato (4000 caratteri/15 minuti) o una presentazione orale su uno degli aspetti della letteratura digitale studiati a lezione. Nel caso di una relazione scritta, il testo dovrà essere consegnato al professore al più tardi 14 giorni prima della data dell'esame orale. L'esame orale si baserà sui temi e le opere trattati nel corso.
