Course objectives
The course aims to give students an insight into data-driven corpus analysis, with particular reference to data-driven learning, learner corpora, and how to exploit corpus linguistics to create teaching and learning material, along with to pursue research purposes.Multimodal plurilingual corpora will also be dealt with and ELAN will be used to implement some samples of multimodal tagging.
L'insegnamento si propone di fornire una panoramica sull'analisi dei corpora guidata dai dati, con particolare riferimento all'apprendimento guidato dai dati, ai learner corpora e a come sfruttare la linguistica dei corpora per creare materiale per l'insegnamento e l'apprendimento e per perseguire scopi di ricerca.

Knowledge and understanding: basic principles of data-driven learning (DDL) and corpus linguistcs, Sketch Engine and AntConc, ELAN and multimodal corpus tagging
Applying knowledge and understanding: creating samples of DDL activities based on corpus creation and linguistic observation; creating an annotated sample of multimodal plurilingual corpus with ELANMaking judgements: choosing the best tagging for a multimodal corpus among the ones described in literature and possibly creating one from scratch; defining ans selecting linguistic evidences worth to be dealt with for teaching purposes
Communication skills: being able to relate about projects and substantiate choices
Learning skills: being able to further use and apply corpus-based research and multimodal annotation for future workConoscenza e comprensione: principi di base dell'apprendimento guidato dai dati (DDL) e della linguistica dei corpora, Sketch Engine e AntConc, ELAN e tagging di corpora multimodali.
Capacità di applicare conoscenza e comprensione: creazione di esempi di attività DDL basati sulla creazione di corpus e sull'osservazione linguistica; creazione di un campione annotato di corpus multimodale plurilingue con ELAN.Autonomia di giudizio: scegliere il tagging migliore per un corpus multimodale tra quelli descritti in letteratura ed eventualmente crearne uno ex novo; definire e selezionare le evidenze linguistiche che meritano di essere trattate a fini didattici.
Abilità comunicative: essere in grado di relazionarsi sui progetti e di motivare le proprie scelte

Learning assessment methods
The examination will be oral.
Students will be expected to produce a small sample of a multimodal corpus annotated with ELAN and hand it in to the lecturer at least one week before the roll call.
Some papers to be discussed at the oral and will be uploaded onto the teaching moodle platform.

Gli studenti dovrenno produrre un piccolo esempio di corpus multimodale annotato con ELAN e consegnarlo alla docente almeno una settimana prima dell'appello.
